A large Home Assistant installation can have hundreds of names, while the local speech-recognition prompt fits roughly 50. The previous ordering spent space on every area before considering devices, allowing long lists of sensors to crowd out lights and scenes people were more likely to name aloud.
The new ranking starts with areas and floors that contain exposed devices, followed by commonly spoken targets such as lights, switches, fans, media players, climate controls and scenes. Aliases stay beside the name they replace, so a spoken name such as ‘standing light’ is less likely to be cut off. Covers and locks are not yet in the priority group, a limitation the contribution explicitly flags for further evaluation.
