Music Assistant’s AirPlay sender corrects a failure that left standalone HomePods running OS 27 silent while the interface showed music playing. Those speakers insist on supplying the timing clock themselves; following it restores sound. HomePods in stereo pairs or Apple TV groups already worked.
Vincent (Chin-Chen) Lin tested the change on a first-generation HomePod running OS 27.0 with Music Assistant 2.10.3, alongside a HomePod mini in an Apple TV group. It is his first contribution to the AirPlay sender, reviewed by Marcel van der Veldt.
Van der Veldt extends the correction to setups sharing one timing service among five to eight standalone HomePods, where the extra speakers would otherwise remain silent.
