Home Assistant protects Opower energy history from updates that can make a day’s consumption or export suddenly plunge below zero. When the utility temporarily supplies no readings at the expected detail level, the integration skips that update instead of replacing finer records with daily or billing-period totals.
Contributor tronikos found the problem on a PG&E account where recorded consumption dropped by 278 kWh and returned energy by 259 kWh in one day. A less detailed update could disturb the running totals used by later updates, producing the false drop.
The correction prevents new damage. It does not repair statistics already written with the conflicting totals.
