Home Assistant is considering a dedicated integration for its official iOS and Android apps, with guided notification and phone-command controls instead of special values copied into configuration. A proposal published by Bruno Pantaleão Gonçalves describes one place for a person’s mobile devices and actions that show only compatible targets.
The proposed design gives Home Assistant responsibility for how phone sensors and actions appear, while the apps report which capabilities they support. Enabling personal sensors would still require the phone owner’s consent in the app; another user could not silently switch on location tracking from Home Assistant.
The opportunity remains in Considering. It proposes an opt-in introduction alongside the existing mobile integration, followed by migration as the design matures. The communication contract, compatibility and transition still need work, and there is no committed timeline.
