ESPHome extends browser-based firmware installation to Beken BK72xx boards through a USB serial adapter. Device Builder compiles the configuration and sends it to the chip, while ESPHome Web accepts the resulting firmware file. The installer checks that the image matches the connected chip before erasing anything.
J. Nick Koston tested installation on BK7231N and BK7238 hardware. BK7231T and BK7252 support follows the reference protocol and simulated tests, without a physical-board test recorded. A device that does not enter installation mode automatically may need a manual reset.
Browser-based logs join the installer. These chips normally send logs through a different serial connection from the one used for installation, so the adapter’s receive wire needs moving to the logging output afterward. The work extends the Pico and Nordic browser installation paths reported on September 25 to another chip family.
