Music Assistant lets a new player take over a streaming service’s single available stream from a paused player. A voice request that pauses music in the living room and starts it in the kitchen no longer has to wait for the old player’s timeout.
The change covers services with a one-stream limit, including Apple Music, Pandora and Spotify using the Soloist backend. A player that is still playing is never interrupted. The paused player can later resume from its saved position with a new stream, including after it could not be reached to stop the old one.
For players without their own pause support, including Sendspin, Snapcast, Fully Kiosk and speaker groups, pausing releases the source immediately while retaining the place for later playback.
