Home Assistant brings HACS into a built-in Marketplace for community integrations, dashboard cards, themes and templates. Its Settings panel lets administrators browse, install and update catalog items without a GitHub account; custom repositories and alternative versions still use a GitHub connection.

Franck Nijhof carries existing HACS installations across automatically, preserving downloads, dashboard resources and custom repositories. Update notices join Home Assistant’s other updates, and existing HACS links keep working. AppDaemon apps and Python scripts stop being managed, with a repair notice identifying affected downloads.

The move keeps the risks of community code visible. Administrators must accept a trust warning before installation or updates, and replacing a built-in integration requires an additional confirmation. Community integrations still run inside Home Assistant, while custom cards run in users’ browsers.
