Home Assistant excludes cancelled CalDAV events from both its event list and the search for the current or next appointment. A calendar such as Nextcloud can retain a cancelled entry instead of deleting it; Home Assistant had continued to treat that entry as going ahead.
Tom Mittelstädt also handles a cancelled occurrence within a repeating series without removing the other dates. The calendar-status work reported on September 2 had left this filtering for a later step.
