Home Assistant’s installer checks that the selected drive is still connected and matches its recorded identity before erasing it. Previously, unplugging a selected USB drive and inserting another could give the replacement the same system address, causing the installer to erase the wrong disk.
Bram Kragten adds checks before opening the erase confirmation and again when it is confirmed, comparing the drive’s system address, model, vendor and size. A missing or changed drive sends the user back to selection, while the confirmation identifies the drive being erased.
The installer also stops showing a misleading Cancel control during a new write after an earlier attempt failed. This does not add the ability to cancel a write already in progress.
