Device makers using Sendspin’s C++ library gain the ability to send captured audio to a compatible server, extending the library beyond receiving playback. The new source role carries timestamped audio in uncompressed PCM or, when the server supports it, the low-delay Opus format.
Kevin Ahrendt builds on source-role work co-authored with Chris Uthe. A desktop example takes audio from the computer’s default input device, starting and stopping capture when the server requests it. The implementation also handles interrupted capture without replaying an old backlog.
The new path is for applications built on the library. Automated tests and ESP32 builds pass, but the desktop example has not been exercised against a live server, and on-device Opus performance still needs measurement.
