Home Assistant 2026.10 arrives today with a redesigned map that makes it easier to see where people and devices are. Streets and labels stay sharp while zooming, people in the same zone share a marker, and an overview lists people, devices and zones alongside recent activity. Older devices that cannot draw the new map fall back to the classic version.
The automation editor makes a long-standing capability easier to find: one automation can respond differently to several triggers without its author inventing and remembering trigger identifiers. The Triggered by condition offers the actual triggers to select, flags missing references and helps repair shared identifiers. Existing identifiers written in YAML keep working.
Dashboards also gain the automation editor’s conditions for showing cards, badges and sections, including time-of-day, zone and template checks. The visibility editor shows whether each condition currently passes, so a hidden card is easier to explain.
Before upgrading, check automations that people start manually: publishing MQTT messages and restarting or shutting down a Synology NAS now require an administrator when a person starts the action, script or automation. Automations running from their own triggers are unaffected.
