Home Assistant protects an existing backup when another backup is requested with the same filename. Previously, the new request failed but its error handler also deleted the older file, leaving it listed even though it was gone. Manuel Rüger keeps that file untouched and reports the conflict in his first contribution to Supervisor.
A separate restore correction prevents highly compressible encrypted backups, such as those containing empty database journal files, from overwhelming Supervisor. Stefan Agner reduces the size of each chunk being decompressed, limiting the large temporary buffers that could make small computers run out of memory.
In Agner’s Python 3.14 extraction test with a compressed 100 MB zero-filled file, the smaller buffer reduced processing from 32.5 seconds to 2.1 seconds. That is a specific extraction benchmark, not a promise for every full restore; unencrypted restores and backup creation keep their existing buffer settings.
