Home Assistant’s iOS ownership plan now proposes a migration window from December 2, 2026, through March 2, 2027. The roadmap proposes an announcement for November 24 and the start of the old app’s wind-down for March 3. These are planning dates; the work remains in Building.
The proposed handover lets a foundation-published app take over the existing Home Assistant registration, preserving entity identities, notification targets and automations while the user signs in again. Another attempt to transfer the existing Apple listing remains in scope. The revised plan confirms there is no legal deadline, and the old app’s final support and removal dates remain open.
The phased approach builds on a migration outline shared by Matthias de Baat and preliminary handover work described by Bruno Pantaleão Gonçalves. The plan also needs to preserve notifications for households that install the replacement without a handover or never reopen the old app.
