Music Assistant’s Android and iPhone app gains a Play announcement control for sending a typed message or your own voice to a speaker. The speaker pauses or lowers its music for the message, then continues afterward.
Andrii Mitnovych adds a hold-to-talk button that sends the message when released, with optional chimes and a custom announcement volume. Microphone permission is requested when the button is first used, and the app does not store the recording.
Typed messages require a text-to-speech engine on the server. Spoken messages need a server supporting the live-announcement connection and cannot target the player on the same phone.
