Home Assistant automations gain a way to start a Music Assistant podcast at its newest episode instead of queuing from the oldest one. The playback action accepts latest or newest as a starting item, bringing a Music Assistant capability into the normal Home Assistant action.
Trevor Baker tested the change with Music Assistant 2.10.5 and a Sonos Arc: a news podcast started with the latest bulletin rather than its old trailer. It also accepts a track or episode identifier, or part of its name, to start an album or playlist at that item.
This is Baker’s first contribution to Home Assistant Core, reviewed by Marcel van der Veldt. It removes the need for the separately configured request with an administrator token previously suggested for this task.
