ESPHome Web adds ready-made starter firmware for seven Beken, Lightning and Realtek chip types. Makers can prepare these boards for use without first compiling a device-specific file; the browser installer keeps an option for their own firmware too.
J. Nick Koston adds images for BK7231N, BK7231T, BK7238, BK7252, LN882H, RTL8710B and RTL8720C. A new Configure Wi-Fi action uses the serial connection to change network settings on firmware with Improv serial support, alongside the existing fallback access-point route.
The starter images were installed and connected on BK7238 and RTL8720C hardware; the other listed images passed builds. Serial Wi-Fi setup was verified on RTL8720C. Beken and Lightning boards use their logging serial port for Wi-Fi setup, which can differ from the installation connection.
