Home Assistant adds a Local disk option to its storage settings, giving internal and USB drives a place alongside network shares. A device picker identifies the available partitions, and the owner chooses whether the storage holds backups, media or shared files.
Petar Petrov tested the interface against a live Supervisor with a USB flash drive. Write-protected devices stay read-only. Changing the read-only setting on a busy disk stops and asks the owner to close files or stop the apps using it before retrying.
The documentation names Supervisor 2026.10.1 as the required version and says no operating-system update is needed. The interface offers Local disk only when Supervisor supports it.
