Home Assistant extends dynamic device naming to entities that an owner has named. Renaming the device then updates those entities too, while dashboard cards, badges and rows without an explicit name use the device name followed by the entity name.
An entity called Ceiling light on a device called Hue bulb therefore appears as Hue bulb Ceiling light. To keep a short label, rename the device and choose Use device name for the entity, or set a name on the card. Area views also stop stripping the area name automatically.
The migration removes a device prefix already present in an entity name to avoid doubling it. Previous names remain aliases for Assist, Alexa and Google Assistant, preserving familiar spoken requests through the change.
