Music Assistant preserves an ESPHome Sendspin speaker’s existing player when an update changes its identity for encrypted connections. Its settings move to the new identity while the player identifier stays the same, keeping groups and Home Assistant automations attached to the speaker.
Maxim Raznatovski tests an Apollo CAST-1 moving from ESPHome 2026.9.1 to 2026.10.0b3. The migration operates with the default legacy-client compatibility setting enabled and also preserves Home Assistant names and announcements. Earlier beta attempts can leave an empty duplicate player to delete; previously disabled speakers still appear as a new player.
