Music Assistant keeps an album on one source instead of independently choosing each track from different releases or services. That avoids switching between an original, a remaster and a compilation during one album, preserving its intended gaps and loudness. If the selected source lacks a track, another copy can still fill the gap.
Service playlists, local folders and podcasts also remember the copy they were started from and try it first, even when a higher-quality copy exists elsewhere. The audio details show the originating album or playlist and link back to it. Music Assistant’s own built-in playlists and songs started on their own keep their existing source selection.
A separate advanced setting keeps remastered tracks and albums apart from their originals and from remasters made in other years. It starts off and does not separate library entries already combined. Together, the changes give collectors more control over which recording actually plays.
