ESPHome adds a dedicated connection for the Midea PortaSplit air conditioner, using a serial link in place of its original Wi-Fi module. It controls the operating mode, target temperature, five fan speeds and vertical swing, together with sleep, boost, eco and frost-protection presets.

The PortaSplit uses a different command protocol from the existing Midea component. The new connection reads back the result after each command and answers the appliance’s checks for its original module. Contributor Fexiven verified it against a real unit and supplies the companion guide in their first contribution to ESPHome’s documentation.

The connection covers climate controls. Extra sensor and adjustment entities remain separate follow-up work.
