Home Assistant adds measurement types to number helpers, allowing a manually entered temperature or other supported value to behave like a measured number. The value and its limits follow the chosen display unit, and setting a value converts it back to the helper’s saved unit.

The helper form filters units to match the selected type. Integral helpers, which turn a rate into a running total, also gain a type setting: water or gas volume and monetary totals can carry the appropriate meaning rather than relying only on the existing power-to-energy inference.

An integral helper uses the chosen type only when its units and statistics are compatible; otherwise it keeps its existing inference and warns about the mismatch. Tom Carpenter supplies the integral-helper change in his first contribution to Home Assistant Core.
