ESPHome adds USB-C Power Delivery support for makers using an ESP32 and an FUSB302B chip. A configuration requests a voltage between 5 and 20 volts; the device chooses the highest fixed voltage the charger offers that does not exceed the request.

New automations react to connection, disconnection, power readiness and communication errors, and can request a different voltage while connected. Diagnostic readings show the negotiated voltage and current allowance, rather than measuring the power a connected circuit actually consumes.

The change completes the component’s earlier protocol and chip support with the controls and status needed to use it in automations. A charger that does not complete Power Delivery negotiation leaves it at the default five volts.
