Home Assistant’s installer adds a Cancel control during drive installation and the preparatory stages of Proxmox and UTM virtual-machine setup. It waits for work to stop, then explains whether nothing was written or the drive needs another installation before use. Virtual-machine cancellation ends when creation begins; a failed cleanup identifies any uploaded image that needs manual removal.

The installer also asks the operating system to prevent idle sleep during lengthy jobs while allowing the screen to turn off. Deliberate sleep remains possible, and Windows Modern Standby on battery limits how long the request holds. Cancellation has automated coverage but has not yet been verified on real drives or live virtual-machine installations.
