ESPHome’s web server stops reading and controlling internal entities through a direct address unless the owner explicitly enables them. Those entities were already hidden from the web page, but their names could still be used to reach them through the API.

That matters when a maker hides a raw relay behind a higher-level switch that adds a timer, an interlock or automatic shutoff: calling the relay directly bypasses that wrapper. Existing scripts that intentionally use such addresses must explicitly expose internal entities or make the chosen entity public. The correction is sebo-b’s first contribution to ESPHome.
