ESPHome reduces the extra copying needed to draw rotated RGB displays, helping makers use screens in portrait orientation with less memory and shorter redraws. The change writes rotated pixels straight to the display buffer instead of creating a separate rotated copy.
On Hasan Khalil’s ESP32-S3 CrowPanel with an 800-by-480 display and a tuned 12.5% drawing buffer, peak rendering time fell from 193.4 to 125.1 milliseconds and average time from 24.3 to 17.8 milliseconds. The test also eliminated a 96-kilobyte rotation buffer. This is his first contribution to ESPHome.
