Home Assistant stops OpenRGB devices that report a serial number from appearing as new devices when a computer changes their connection paths. Previously, restarts or reconnecting a peripheral could leave the old entity unavailable and silently remove its light from groups.
Tristyn Russelo preserves existing records while replacing the unstable part of their identity, tested across real computer restarts with Razer peripherals. Devices without a reported serial number can still duplicate, and pre-existing conflicting duplicates are left alone.
