Music Assistant prevents its Sonic Similarity provider from repeatedly failing to start on large libraries. Preparing the data for sound-based discovery no longer runs inside startup steps with two- and five-minute limits, which could time out and repeat the same large database reads.
Chris moves that preparation to a background task. Similar-track requests remain unavailable until the initial index is ready, and a failed rebuild appears in the provider’s status and is retried hourly. One report involved 88,000 tracks and a 2.6 GB analysis database.
