ESPHome adds persistent crash reports for nRF52 devices. A crash saves debugging information in flash, and the next log reader receives it before it is erased, so a maker does not need to have a computer listening when the fault happens.
Tests on an nRF52840 dongle and an Adafruit ItsyBitsy recovered complete reports after opening the USB log port about a minute after the crash. Enabling or disabling the crash-report component on an existing over-the-air setup requires one USB flash because it changes the firmware storage layout.
