Home Assistant’s installer adds a bootable USB route for generic x86-64 PCs. Another computer prepares the stick, then the target PC boots from it and installs Home Assistant OS onto a selected internal disk. The target computer needs no network connection during installation; creating the stick still needs internet access.

The installer can also save a bootable ISO for virtual machines or other writing tools. Its full-screen interface offers a disk chooser, progress and next steps. Installation requires typing “erase”, and the selected disk’s identity is checked again immediately before writing.

The route requires UEFI with Secure Boot disabled. Tests cover a Dell OptiPlex with a SATA drive and virtual machines; installations onto NVMe or eMMC have not yet been checked on hardware.
