Music Assistant’s phone player adds an optional 24-bit setting for lossless FLAC and uncompressed PCM audio. It supports Android 12 and newer and iOS; Opus playback remains 16-bit, and the new option starts off.
Andrii Mitnovych also makes FLAC the default for new installations while preserving the previous Opus default for existing setups. The player offers stereo audio at 48 kHz and keeps a 16-bit fallback. The setting expands the phone player’s audio formats; it does not promise an audible improvement from every phone or output device.
