ESPHome adds a Sendspin audio source for devices with a microphone or line input. A compatible server starts and stops capture, and the device sends the audio with its capture time so the server can align it with other audio.

The source accepts up to two channels at the microphone’s fixed sample rate and sends uncompressed audio. Makers can report whether audio is available through a sharing switch or sound-level measurement, and react when streaming starts or stops.

The availability signal guides automatic playback; it does not itself refuse a server’s request to start capture. This is an audio-input capability for ESPHome devices, beyond the computer capture tools previously covered.
