Home Assistant stops automatically enabling new network-client trackers just because another integration recognizes the same network address. New scanner trackers start disabled; existing trackers keep their enabled or disabled state.

In his contributor guide, Erik Montnémery explains that these trackers gain ordinary device information and names, avoiding doubled labels and trackers waiting for another integration to identify their device. UniFi’s own access points, switches and gateways remain enabled by default; its client trackers follow the new disabled default.

Owners who renamed a tracker may see its device name added as a prefix. Custom-integration authors also need to provide device information themselves before the compatibility fallback is removed in November 2028.
