Home Assistant adds Replace to automation triggers, conditions and actions, and to script actions. Changing a light action from on to off no longer requires deleting it, adding a new step, moving it back and entering the target again.
The replacement keeps targets and options the new step accepts, along with its trigger identifier, enabled state and notes. Incompatible fields and the old name are dropped. One undo restores the original step exactly.
Blocks containing other steps are excluded, so replacing a step cannot silently discard an entire branch or loop.
