Music Assistant preserves a speaker’s existing player identity when an old native-device record claims its audio connection but never comes online. Previously, the speaker could be recreated with a new identifier on each restart, losing its settings and its Home Assistant entity.
The existing player is restored first. A native device can take over later only after it registers and accepts the connection. Speakers wrapped around a disabled native device remain playable until that native device is enabled again.
