Home Assistant is shaping a forecast system that would let AI conversation agents answer questions about future sensor values, alongside charts extending beyond the present. The revised proposal includes Nord Pool day-ahead electricity prices and existing solar-forecast integrations in its minimum scope.
A sensor’s more-info chart, the History panel and history graph cards would show future values distinctly from measurements and identify their source. Visual triggers for predicted thresholds or cheaper periods remain in the proposal, but can be dropped from the first delivery if time runs out. The underlying design still needs agreement.
Markus Tuominen has argued for starting with one forecast per sensor while leaving room for later extensions. That limit remains: resident-added forecasts, multiple sources and uncertainty bands are follow-up work.
