Home Assistant changes its recommended HTTPS encryption profile to Intermediate v6, keeping connections from devices that cannot use TLS 1.3. These include current Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition firmware, the companion app on Android 6–9 and Sonos speakers fetching speech or music. New installations use the same revised default.
This reverses the Modern v6 recommendation covered earlier this month. Intermediate v6 still removes older encryption methods while accepting TLS 1.2; Modern v6 remains an option when every connecting device supports TLS 1.3.
The repair also explains that the certificate itself does not need replacing. Its five-minute recovery trial checks browser access, so owners still need to check their devices and apps after confirming. These settings affect incoming HTTPS connections, not Home Assistant’s outgoing connections.
