ESPHome controls brushless motors through M5Stack’s driver

Makers can set a target speed, reverse direction and read the motor’s actual rotation rate.

ESPHome adds support for the M5Stack M5Unit-BLDC brushless motor driver. Makers can choose direct power control or a target rotation speed, change direction, and read the actual speed and motor status.

Ludovic BOUÉ verified the driver with an M5Stack AtomS3 and a real motor unit. Direction changes briefly stop the drive before restoring it, and the target-speed mode uses the driver’s own feedback control.
