Home Assistant corrects a dashboard freeze affecting large installations with several area cards. Every state change could make each control type scan all entities, multiplying the work across cards.
The controls first find the entities in their own area and repeat that lookup only when the device and entity registries change. The area overview and controls editor use the same approach.
