Music Assistant adds a built-in connection for AI assistants to find music, choose players and manage playback. It uses the Model Context Protocol, the interface used by assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT, and provides fifteen tools covering searching, queues, favourites, playlists and speaker grouping.
When Music Assistant runs as a Home Assistant app, it announces the connection for discovery in Home Assistant. Other clients connect using a Music Assistant token, and commands respect the calling account’s role and player access. The older community plugin remains separately identified.
The server also prepares for Home Assistant to pass along the person making a request. That part requires a corresponding Home Assistant change; it does not yet establish per-person identity forwarding from Assist.
