The Terminal & SSH app makes Home Assistant’s web terminal readable by screen readers. Previously, its canvas-based display left assistive software with an empty page instead of the commands being typed and the output they produced.
The accessible mode starts enabled for everyone, so a screen-reader user does not have to find a setting inside an inaccessible terminal. Its appearance stays the same. Can K. checked typing, command output and the status line with JAWS and NVDA on Windows, including a local Home Assistant OS installation.
Large bursts of output still reach the terminal’s announcement limit after about twenty lines, after which the rows can be read manually. This is Can K.’s first contribution to the Terminal & SSH repository.
