Home Assistant’s Apple app gives Siri the context of the device or sensor whose details are open. Requests such as “turn this off”, “dim this” or “set this to 21” can refer to that item without repeating its name. Covers and locks also supply context for their own commands.
Bruno Pantaleão Gonçalves connects the app to new signals from Home Assistant’s interface. On-screen context needs iOS 18.2, with additional cover-name support on iOS 18.4. Siri also gains a command to add a supported item to Apple Watch, CarPlay or the Mac toolbar, offering only destinations available on that device.
The shared item types behind these commands replace two older types introduced in app version 2026.9.1. Shortcuts saved against those types break and need rebuilding. Separately, Siri’s suggested lists narrow to suitable visible items assigned to rooms; that filtering still lets existing shortcuts, widgets and Spotlight results resolve items outside the suggestions.
