ESPHome 2026.9 arrives today with a way to protect the secrets inside a firmware update as it crosses the home network. Encrypted transfers can use the same key that secures the device’s Home Assistant connection, preventing a listener on the network from reading the Wi-Fi credentials and other secrets embedded in the firmware.

Its operating-system agent rejects app security files that try to define another component’s protection rules, while Supervisor closes a route around its restrictions on privileged account commands.

Home Assistant’s Apple app gives Siri the context of the device or sensor whose details are open. Requests such as “turn this off”, “dim this” or “set this to 21” can refer to that item without repeating its name. Covers and locks also supply context for their own commands.

Device makers building Sendspin products gain explicit terms for implementing the audio protocol. The specification adopts the Community Specification License 1.0, including a contributor patent commitment scoped to the protocol. The Sendspin name and logo remain separately governed trademarks.

Piper adds Lithuanian pronunciation support for people building local spoken voices. A bundled dictionary corrects word stress and preserves the language’s three pitch accents, distinctions that the existing pronunciation engine collapses even though they can change a word’s meaning.
