ESPHome Device Builder adds Bluetooth firmware updates for compatible nRF52 devices, alongside a serial update option. A device must already run firmware configured for the MCUboot update service. This extends the browser-based USB installation reported on September 25 with a wireless update path.
Contributor tomaszduda23 supplies the dashboard update engine, with J. Nick Koston reviewing and extending it to ESPHome Web. The standalone site accepts an app_update.bin file and checks it before offering Bluetooth or serial transfer. Bluetooth requires a browser that supports Web Bluetooth.
The work was tested on an Adafruit ItsyBitsy nRF52840 over both connections. Bluetooth discovery uses the update service advertised by the board, avoiding a remembered old device name that could keep it out of the chooser.
