Assist plays music from a chosen household account

A voice assistant can act as a selected person and use their linked streaming account.

Reviewed by silamon, klaasnicolaas

Home Assistant lets an Assist voice assistant act as a chosen user. A request from a voice satellite previously carried no user identity, leaving integrations unable to choose that person’s linked account. Music Assistant can use the new setting to play from their own streaming account.

Music Assistant gives each listener personal favourites and dislikes

Hearts belong to individual accounts, and disliked tracks, albums and artists stay out of automatically chosen music.

Music Assistant gives each household member their own favourites and dislikes. The heart shown in the interface reflects the signed-in listener’s choice, and an update from another person no longer replaces it. This extends the account protections reported on September 27, which left the app’s own hearts shared.

Home Assistant protects app sign-ins from intercepted codes

An optional proof check ties a login code to the app that requested it, including during account linking.

Reviewed by balloob, silamon, zweckj

Playback, volume and mute controls are included, along with line-in selection where a room’s device supports it.

ESPHome stops visual forms overwriting hand-edited configurations

Moving between YAML and the visual editor no longer restores deleted values or changes the wrong row.

ESPHome Device Builder protects changes made directly in YAML when someone returns to its visual forms. Editing a form within a second of changing the text could previously replace the new text with older values. The forms read the current configuration before writing, while automation editors briefly pause until their updated contents are ready.

Music Assistant links the same albums across music services

MusicBrainz links and recording identifiers improve matching without relying on title searches alone.

Music Assistant uses the open MusicBrainz catalogue to connect albums and tracks in a library with the same music on other configured services. Links already recorded by MusicBrainz come before a text search; recording identifiers and album barcodes provide another way to find a match.

UniFi Protect camera events work with API-key-only connections

Motion, sound, smart detection and package events no longer require the additional local account.

Reviewed by erwindouna

Home Assistant adds UniFi Protect camera events to connections that use only an API key. Motion, sound detection, smart detection and package events become available where the camera exposes them, broadening the existing connection’s use in automations.
