Home Assistant changes background work linked to crashes in its iPhone and Apple Watch apps. Contributor Bruno Pantaleão Gonçalves associates the watch’s saved-home loading with reports from roughly 2,000 devices on version 2026.9.3, and the phone’s shortcut refresh with reports from about 876 devices.
Loading the watch’s saved home view and rebuilding iPhone home-screen shortcuts wait until the app is active. That avoids background database reads which the operating system could interrupt while leaving a lock held.
The watch also applies incoming home updates one at a time. Overlapping updates could exceed its processing allowance; it refreshes the display after the last update in a burst instead of after each one.
