Music Assistant expands Smart Fades beyond tracks that can share a beat. Songs with different tempos or time signatures can overlap through their quiet intros and outros for up to 15 seconds, instead of routinely receiving a short cut.
Marcel van der Veldt adds filter and echo transitions for pairs whose drum beats would clash, and avoids changing the tempo when there is no beat to match. Existing beatmatched transitions remain, with checks against overlapping vocals and drums.
In van der Veldt’s replay of 3,000 random pairs drawn from 1,500 analysed tracks, the median planned fade grew from 3.9 to 7.7 seconds. The measurement compares transition plans for that collection.
