Home Assistant’s KNX read action can return a reply directly to an automation. That gives the following steps a fresh value from a chosen group address instead of only sending a request onto the building’s control network.

The reply can include a decoded value, unit and sending device when the loaded KNX project describes them, alongside the raw message. The action waits up to two seconds and reports an error if no answer arrives. Returning data supports one address at a time; ordinary requests to one or several addresses continue to work.
