Music Assistant’s AirPlay tool raises the limit of its shared timing service from eight receivers to 64. Groups of nine or more AirPlay 2 receivers could previously fail to start, while cycling through eight distinct receivers could leave later ones without the timing messages needed to play.

Marvin Schenkel also makes the service release a receiver’s place when its stream ends or its process disappears. Tests cover nine simultaneous receivers and reclaiming capacity after streams stop. The 64-receiver limit belongs to the timing service, rather than a guarantee of playback performance for a group that size.
