ESPHome adds a way for makers to run a small C program on an ESP32’s low-power coprocessor while the main processor is in deep sleep. The program can run on a timer, share values with ESPHome and wake the main processor without losing its state.

The component supports the low-power RISC-V cores in ESP32-S2, S3, C5, C6 and P4 chips with native ESP-IDF builds. Tests on S3 and P4 boards kept a counter running across sleep and woke the main processor. P4 still needs a direct sleep call because ESPHome’s ordinary deep-sleep component does not yet compile there; the original ESP32 is outside this support.
